The Royal Photographic Society was established in 1853. It is an educational charity that exists to promote photography and to encourage public appreciation of photography. To celebrate the centenary year of women’s suffrage in the UK The RPS launched their own campaign Hundred Heroines to honour one hundred photographic heroines, past and present. The final Hundred Heroines were announced on 14 December www.rps100heroines.org

 

The heroines will be part of a landmark exhibition and receive a specially minted medal – the Margaret F. Harker Medal

 

The RPS is extremely proud to support 209 women, an initiative which champions the visibility of women in parliament and in photography.
